Parli…Parla…Pablo..??
Has the U.S. shipped any jobs overseas?
Does
anyone realize Russia has been graduating more and more
proficient engineers?
Has
anyone taken notice of birth rates between Anglo-American
women versus Arabic women (1.2-1.8 per Anglo to >4 per
Arabic)?
How
could these FACTS affect job markets in as quickly as 10
years, but inevitably in one to two generations? Are you or
your children prepared?
Or are
you too busy ‘tweeting’ or playing Wii?
What
if you find that your job is taking you to a foreign
country? If you don't speak the language how will you be
able to conduct business
effectively?
Fortunately
you can research online for the language that you need to
learn and courses exist that allow you to study on your own
time-table. Some are interactive so that one learns correct
pronunciations (hmmph, imagine
that).
There
are as many foreign language courses available as are needed
for most businesses and industries. It’s a good idea to
survey first what’s needed and wanted in your career/job,
then find the most applicable learning method by asking
someone who’s done just that.
You can find many opportunities to further your career or
begin a new one.
But
the idea is simple: you need to make yourself a more
valuable commodity in the workplace. Skills + willingness +
ethics + a good work history and network make for a
combination that is difficult to pass
over.
Remember:
a good candidate matches his or her skills with what’s
needed and wanted, and never becomes complacent once awarded
the job.
