But that was a day that a peon spent with Kings.
On the boat with the wealthy man was the Governor of the State of Ohio and Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy's. The three men had
their own private relationship together and all had chunks of shares of Wendy's Corporation. And through his own sheer
persistence and genuine thoughtfulness and love of people, a simple fireman was amongst giants and treated as an insider.
This was more than just an entertaining story. This was a profound lesson, and it still shakes me when I recall the tale.

So, why do people fail at networking? In discussing this with my friend Barry, a sales team manager at a large
pharmaceutical corporation, the reasons became clear: laziness, carelessness, and lack of confront.
But from a purely deep rooted level of the psyche we know that it comes down to internal conflict. People want results, but they also
want comfort. People want knowledge, power or fame, but also tranquility. It's these conflicting emotions that cause
hesitation, self-sabotage, and a falling-short of goals.
In short, people don't do the work that can net the big fish!
